Efficient treatment for tannery wastewater through sequential electro-Fenton and electrocoagulation processes

This work aims to study the ability of using single and sequential electro-Fenton (EF) electrocoagulation (EC) processes in order treat tannery wastewater. The first method was run with an air diffusion cathode for H2O2 generation boron–doped diamond (BDD) as anode. second conducted mild steel electrodes. applied processes' performance monitored by removals chemical oxygen demand (COD) along total Cr addition electric energy consumption (EEC). To achieve allowable discharge limits aquatic media, a hybrid 2 h EF-5 EC process wastewater, based on optimization results every method, achieving (88.1 ± 4.8)% COD removal rate elimination Cr. In addition, other parameters evolution such pH, turbidity concentration ions were discussed. As result, global EEC treatment reduced about 1.7 times. Finally, precipitate sludge generated at end each examined X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis determine their crystalline structure valorization or reuse possibilities.
